Salt spray and sea air leave a film that turns into spots as it dries, and strong sun bakes it on. The longer it sits, the harder it is to remove.
Rinse with fresh water to carry off salt and grit. Wiping dry glass spreads the grit and can scratch.
Choose a cleaner made for marine glass or for your specific window material. Plastic and vinyl windows need products made for them, and abrasive pads should be avoided.
Clean in shade if you can, since direct sun dries the cleaner too fast and leaves streaks. Use clean microfiber towels and change them when they get damp.
Dry with a fresh towel and rinse the glass after every outing. A quick rinse prevents most spotting.
